Excerpts from S. Zorig's
interview granted to the Mongolian Radio, August,
1998:
"It is essential to see the development
of our country in harmony with development
trends of the region and the world, to collect
and exchange information related to this and
make decisions based on that [information].
It is correct to promote young people, however,
we should rely on highly professional and
capable people. In certain sectors we observe
that these people are not listened to. The
State continuity is essential."
"A politician himself does not need
to be an extremely smart person. Wide knowledge
and an ability to attract and lead other people
is necessary to a certain degree, however,
it is important that he should be able to
properly use the intellects of other people,
and collect and direct their cumulative knowledge
and potential. The best quality of a politician
is the capability to closely cooperate with
people who have great potential."
"But the sequence must not be lost.
The national interests must come first. Then
the interests of social groupings that become
common in our society should be safeguarded
and after that the interests of a company
may come. Because they are to a certain extent
profit making organizations they will race
for profit. Lastly an individual will have
the interest to improve his private life and
well being. It should be taken into account
that such interests have always existed. However
we must not break this sequence. If we lose
this sequence we will enter the stage of degradation."
